Head Coaches

Kevin FitzsimmonsKevin is President & Owner of Soccer Edge.  Kevin is originally from Liverpool, U.K. and is a life-long Everton fan. Kevin became head coach of the Weston High School Boys Soccer program in 2009 and since then the program has grown in strength with The Trojans winning their conference division for the first time in the schools history in 2014.  In 2010 & 2014 the Trojans also reached the quarter finals of the State Cup.  Coach Fitz was voted South West Conference Coach of the year in 2010 and 2014 and was also nominated for this award in 2011 & 2012. 

Kevin served as coaching director for Manchester United Soccer Schools prior to leaving the UK for Connecticut. During his time with Manchester United, Kevin coached the Boys U18 National Team of Thailand. He also coached the Broughton Hall School U12 & U13 Girl’s Team; this team was the 2003-04 National Adidas Champions; Merseyside Cup Champions in 2002-03 and Merseyside cup runner up 2003-2004. Kevin’s playing career included playing for his college and university teams and a soccer apprenticeship with the professional English team Tranmere Rovers. Kevin has a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Sport Science/Coaching Science from Edge Hill University in Lancaster UK.

Marcos Giovannioni (Coach Gio)Marcos “Gio” Giovannioni is the Academy Director and Camp Director for Soccer Edge as well as a head coach.  Coach Gio is originally from Carangola, Minas Gerais State in Brazil, Gio started coaching in the United States in 2011 for the Tetabrazil Soccer Academy.  Gio has coached soccer since 2006 in Brazil starting with the Olimpico Academy, moving to multiple high school teams and being the fitness coach for the Funorte Futebol Clube in Minas Gerais State.  He has a Physical Education degree and studying for his post graduation in Soccer.  Gio brings his passion for soccer everywhere he goes and wishes to spread that passion to the kids he coaches as well as the other coaches at Soccer Edge.

Craig Horne - Originally from South Africa, Craig trained professionally with Albertain Callies and while training with them he decided to pursue an education as well as playing soccer overseas in the USA. In 1994, Craig received a soccer scholarship to Lander University in South Carolina, where he went on to graduate with a degree in Marketing Management and a minor in Philosophy.  While at college, Craig became involved with coaching youth teams, including coaching the St Giles U15 Girls Premier team to a South Carolina State Championship. Craig also has a great deal of experience coaching in youth soccer where he has coached premier teams in Connecticut (CFC and Weston KAOS).

Paulo Roberto Reis Costa -  Coach Paulo is a head coach for Soccer Edge and originates from Sao Paulo Brazil.  Paulo has played soccer since he was a child and has played for professional soccer teams including S. E. Matonese and Jogos Regionais Garantingueta.  He has a major in Physical Education with a concentration in Soccer and sports sciences as well as the methodology of training from the ESEFIC and the University of Gama Filho.  Paulo came over to the United States to coach soccer in 2012 for Tetrabrazil before working for Soccer Edge.  Paulo’s infectious smile and positive attitude allows for kids of all ages to have a fun time while learning the the game of soccer.

Kaitlyn Fedumenti - Kaitlyn is a head coach for Soccer Edge during the spring seasons when she is not playing for her college team Albertus Magnus in New haven CT.  Kaitlyn is currently a Junior and will be enetering into her final year of college and so Soccer Edge are very happy to be getting her full time in the future.  Kaitlyn is a great student of the game and gets great joy from giving back to the game that has given her many wonderful years by working with todays youth players.  kailtyn's long term goal is to be a head coach for a D1 mens college team.

John Bruno - John Bruno is the head coach of U10 boys team, Goalkeeping coach and also an academy head coach. John's passion for soccer stems from his playing days as a goalkeeper where he played for Beachside, CT ODP, started 3 years for Brien McMahon varsity where he gained all FCIAC honors. John went on to play collegiate soccer for Western Connecticut State University where he studied criminal justice and psychology. John has been coaching and refereeing for over 4 years. John enjoys working with kids. John strives to grow his players technical ability as well as there passion and love for the game.

Reuben Nkata - Reuben Nkata was born and raised in Zambia where he played soccer and began his passionate soccer training before moving to the United States in 2004. Naturally, he took his soccer skills and fun loving attitude to coaching soon after settling into his new home.  He has trained players in various cities throughout the state and has coached in Weston for over ten years.  Reuben is the girls U9 and U10 head coach as well as being a head coach on the acdermy program.

Caio Falcao Leite - 

James Michel - Coach James played soccer continuously while growing up for both High School and several of the local soccer clubs around Connecticut. James was able to use his soccer and academic achievements in order to attend the University of New Haven in West Haven CT. He has played against multiple professional players including the Canadian national goalkeeper as well as a goalkeeper from a top Portuguese club, scoring on both of them. James has over 8 years of experience coaching soccer.  He says that "Happiness for me is when I'm with my 2 kids and when I'm around anything involving soccer” and wishes to spread that love of the game to every kid he coaches.

Sokol Bala (Coach Koli) - Sokol “Koli” Bala was born in Korce, Albania and has had soccer be a part of his entire life.  Koli moved to the United States in 2002 and has been coaching in Weston since 2006.  Koli graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Accounting then continued his education in National Security and Public Safety as well as Forensic Accounting.  During his years in the U.S. Koli has had an opportunity to coach in many Fairfield County towns including New Canaan, Newton, and Weston.  Coach Koli is the director of coaching for the Weston recreational program as well as being a head coach.
